EXTRAORDINARY ATHLETES PROGRAM

Independent Walkers to 5 Years

Movement with Intention, Growth with Heart

Welcome to Extraordinary Athletes

At Momentum Athletic Center, our Extraordinary Athletes program is a specially designed movement class for children with special needs. This inclusive gymnastics program has proven to foster confidence and growth in kids, including those with autism and other developmental challenges—it’s a safe, loving space where children grow in coordination, confidence, and joy. With expert coaching and small class sizes, we believe every child is extraordinary.

Why Extraordinary Athletes?

  • Created in collaboration with Developmental Pathways
  • Designed to meet children where they are, offering personalized challenges and growth
  • Focus on independence, social-emotional growth, and physical strength
  • Small ratios: 5 children per class, with two coaches trained in sensory-aware instruction

Tailored Class Structure

Our class structure is unique, with two highly trained instructors assigned to five children. Each instructor brings specialized training from certified therapists in Physical, Occupational, Social Emotional, and Speech Therapy. Whether your child has autism, Down syndrome, speech or physical delays, cognitive challenges, or other special needs, our expert team is here to meet them where they are and lovingly challenge them to grow.

This class is designed for preschool-aged children needing an active, fun adventure coached by trained professionals skilled in supporting the development of children who can use a little extra attention. We have collaborated with Developmental Pathways to support our coaches understanding and training. They will continue to be involved in evaluating and growing our program capabilities. While we will be teaching movement with the concepts of gymnastics, we understand that we need to meet every child where they are. Our goal will be to challenge your child to grow while interacting with new friends independently from you, and having a blast while doing it!!

"For 40 minutes, my son gets to be himself—happy, safe, and full of energy. It’s made such a difference in his behavior and gives him a place to thrive. We love that both parents can be part of the journey—even from miles away!"

Parker CO Preschool Gymnastics That Helped My Daughter Thrive” – A Parent’s Perspective

She was afraid to leave my side at the first class, and by the third, she was jumping on the trampoline shouting, ‘I so happy!’ Momentum’s coaches created a safe, joyful place for her to grow, and she’s now reaching milestones we never imagined possible."

The Extraordinary Athlete program at Momentum has been incredible! The progress my son has made has been absolutely amazing. The coaches are patient, kind, and caring!

My son struggled with interaction with kids as well as adults. Now, he asks to go play with the coaches and friends. His mobility and coordination has improved tremendously.

She has gained confidence, patience, and resilience

Thank you so much for the love, care, & compassion that you have shown Sophie for the past six months. I am in absolute awe of all that she has accomplished thanks to the guidance and support you have provided. From a little booty-scooter to an athlete- the transformation has been, well... EXTRAORDINARY. Aside from the obvious physical gains, she has also gained so much confidence, patience and resilience. She has also gained a support system that I am so grateful for. She loves everyone of you and her classmates. As we transition to new classes, we will sing your praises to anyone who will listen. We will be forever and ever grateful for Extraordinary Athletes and the impact that you have had on our lives. You are incredible people doing incredible things and we thank you for everything you have given us. ~ Sarah C.

This is Elliott. She is the daughter of an EI provider. Elliott was very apprehensive about joining in the class. This was her first experience doing an activity separate from her mom and her grandma who cares for her during the week. Elliott was all tears the first class and mom held her and would put her down all while encouraging her to take part in the class. After all, mom is a Developmental Interventionist and knows the importance of being able to separate from mom and the confidence that builds in a child. The second class I held her the whole time and we walked around the class tearful and talking and intermittently trying the equipment. The third time, she entered with tears which soon dissipated, and she took part in everything! Elliott is a fun, enthusiastic athlete who tries everything and she has a supportive and very happy mom!

This is Mekayla. She entered the program and was disengaged socially. She didn't have body and spatial awareness and had to be monitored very closely. She is now fully engaged with all the equipment and coaches and does not need close supervision at all! She navigates all the stations and equipment with little supervision. She is smiling through the class, and is very brave and does all the equipment and is willing to try new things!
