GIRLS GYMNASTICS COMPETITIVE TEAMS

Momentum Athletic Center provides competitive opportunities for those families and athletes who have the drive and talent to be competitive level gymnasts. As a USA Gymnastics Member Club, we offer both JO (Junior Olympic) and Xcel leagues for our team athletes (the only gymnastics training facility in Parker that does). Each program has its place in Colorado, regional and national gymnastics and specializes in providing a different and unique competitive experience for our gymnasts.

Junior Olympic Program

The JO Program is the original league in the United States and provides athletes to World Championships and the Olympics. The majority of our JO athletes come from our preschool and advanced preschool programs. These athletes are typically identified between the ages of 5 to 7 years old.

Xcel Program

The Xcel Program is more moderate in every aspect. Typically, the Xcel Program is less expensive, less hours and allows recreational athletes from our Intermediate and Advanced Rec. Program to participate in competitive gymnastics. Prospective Xcel athletes are usually identified for team between the ages of 8 to 10. The limited number of training hours in the gym allows gymnasts to participate in other activities and sports.

Athletes can and often do transfer from one program to the other when their goals and abilities change.

Momentum Athletic Center boasts countless competitive records. Over the past 10 years, Momentum has continually been effective and successful in our competitive endeavors. Momentum has had countless event and All-Around State and Regional champions as well as many State winning championship teams. The one record MAC is most proud of is our record of longevity and consistency. Each year, Momentum has placed consistently in the top tier of Colorado teams, placing in the top 5 gyms at the Colorado State Championships both in the JO and Xcel programs. Additionally, we have had several athletes go on to scholarships to various universities around the nation.

Our coaching staff is unique in the gymnastics world. Selected for their technical expertise and genuine love of children, you will not find better coaches anywhere in the sport of gymnastics. If you are seeking to find the perfect gymnastics training facility for your gymnast, one in which she can train in a genuinely caring, respectful, fun yet expectant environment, please consider Momentum as your next forever home.

JUNIOR OLYMPICS (JO) TEAMS

The JO Development Program was developed with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses. The Women’s Development Program is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.

  • 6-8 Meets Per Year
  • State Competition
  • Level 7+ Regionals
  • Levels 9+ Westerns & Nationals

The Developmental Levels 1 through 3 may be used as a non-competitive and achievement-oriented program for use within a gym’s pre-team program, or they may be used as an introductory/recreational competitive program. States may offer State Championships for these levels.

The second part consists of Compulsory Levels 4 and 5. Both of these levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.

The third segment is the Optional Levels 6-10. Levels 6, 7, 8, and 9 have difficulty restrictions, while Level 10 has no restrictions in the skill choice. Composition is evaluated at Levels 8, 9, and 10. Refer to the Development Code of Points for a complete explanation of Level 6-10 rules. (usagym.org).

We have top of the line coaches with the highest of quality coaching statuses. We are passionate about each and every one of our athletes and their fastest track to success within the JO Program. At Momentum Athletic Center, we offer all levels of JO. Those are Levels 1 through Level 10 within the USAG regulations.

My daughter has been on the XCEL team at Momentum for a little over a year now. We switched to Momentum from a different gym, and I am shocked by the positive progress she has made. Coach Sydney has made such a huge impact in my daughter’s life as a coach and a person. They push your kid in a safe way to achieve their highest potential. I can’t recommend their XCEL program more highly.

Michael Monti

Girls Competitive Gymnastics Team Lead

Coach Michael brings more than 35 years of coaching experience to Momentum Athletic Center in Parker, CO, where he leads our Girls Competitive Gymnastics Team. His career in gymnastics began in Colorado as a child and quickly grew into a lifelong passion for coaching and mentoring athletes.

Michael has held leadership roles at top programs across the country, including owning and growing a large gymnastics facility in Arizona, serving as Girls Program Director at Peak Athletics in Highlands Ranch, and earning recognition as the Colorado Compulsory Coach of the Year in 2015.

Since joining Momentum, Michael has been both a coach and a leader, helping grow our competitive program while also serving as part of our management team. Known for his motivating style and commitment to excellence, Michael has a gift for spotting talent early—often starting with our preschool gymnasts—and guiding athletes all the way to state, regional, and collegiate levels.

His philosophy is simple: every child has the potential to succeed, and it’s a coach’s responsibility to nurture that potential in a positive, respectful environment. Families across Parker know him not only for his coaching expertise but also for his dedication to developing the whole athlete—body, mind, and character.
