  • INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

At Momentum, safety is our number one priority, both inside and outside of the facilities. We have members who come from all over the South Metro Denver area. Nearly all closures of the gym are due to weather conditions, therefore we follow Douglas County School District’s closure status.

    Weather Closure Policy

    Douglas County Schools Late Start

    (1-2 hour delayed opening)

Momentum will open at 10 am

Any classes starting before 10 am will be cancelled

Douglas County Schools Closure for the Day

    (SNOW DAY)

All Momentum morning classes will be cancelled

A determination will be made by 12 noon about afternoon and evening class schedules

Douglas County Schools After School Programs Cancelled

    (Late day weather event)

We will make a determination ASAP

    Douglas County Schools Lock Down

    Momentum will maintain normal operations

Obviously any threat to the gym will be evaluated and considered

In the event of any closures/delays we will send emails to all families impacted, all staff and also post a notice to Facebook and Instagram.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about it!

  • SANITATION & HYGIENE POLICY

We require each child to carry their own “gym kit”, which should include, water bottle, hand sanitizer, personal chalk, grips (both items are for team athletes only), etc. in a tote bag. The children will bring these bags to each class session. They will then be taken home following each class session.

We have closed the water fountains. Please make sure that your child brings their own water bottle with their first and last name written on it.

We will request that every parent ensure their children have washed thoroughly immediately prior to attending the gym. Hand sanitizer has been placed in numerous locations throughout our gyms. Every child should sanitize their hands when entering and exiting.

We have added 10 minutes between every class to allow all areas impacted in the gym to be cleaned.

We will add staff dedicated to cleaning all lobby and viewing areas.

  • COVID UPDATES

Since March of 2022, when the pandemic began to significantly impact our communities, we have worked tirelessly to continue to serve the Parker area while ensuring to keep your children and our staff safe. This has required us to repeatedly revisit and revise our policies and operating procedures to adapt to the changing threats of the pandemic. We know this has been a tremendously uncertain and frustrating time for you and your family. It has been for us as well. We appreciate all that you have done to support Momentum and our staff as we’ve struggled to be here for you.

Policies and Procedures – Updated March 2022

As of March 2022 we are allowing parents with children enrolled in our Preschool classes access to our lobbies and viewing areas inside the gyms. Consistent with federal, state, and local recommendations, we are NOT requiring masks for athletes, parents, coaches or staff. Those wishing to wear masks are encouraged to do so. We also highly discourage anyone from visiting the gym with any signs of cold or flu-like symptoms.

Parents of children in any of our other programs are required to drop off their children rather than accompanying them into the gym. We will have staff deployed to ensure children safely enter the building. Preschool families are allowed one parent/guardian into the viewing area to watch the sessions. (Please follow physical distancing guidelines).

Free remote monitoring of classes is available to all families that want it. Please check with our Welcome Desk Team for access instructions.

The gym has had a complete make-over. We have added nearly 1200sf of training space. This new layout minimizes congestion and creates open traffic. We have doubled the amount of spring floor and carpeted space for stretching, tumbling and additional training stations.

We have removed all lockers from the gym – these were gathering areas for children and difficult to keep sanitary.

We have designated multiple entrances and exits to reduce the grouping of people before and after classes.

The gym has been divided into specific partitioned training areas.

We have established a maximum number of children/coaches allowed in the gym at any time.

Your coaches have developed training techniques that allow coaches and athletes to maintain as much personal space as possible.

ABOUT US

OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY

When we opened Momentum Athletic Center we did so as naïve parents hoping to bring the thrill of gymnastics to as many young people in our community as possible. Our daughter has benefited so greatly from her experiences in the sport. We wanted to be part of sharing this experience with all of you. Gymnastics has so much to teach. It is such an amazing training ground to build strength, confidence, perseverance, and love. With the right teammates, coaches and parents it gives young people the opportunity to learn so much that will help them to become healthy, happy and productive adults. Child safety was something we assumed to be our primary concern.

We now know that the promise of gymnastics has been turned into something dark and sinister for too many. There are predators, and the people that enable them throughout the sport. We ask ourselves the question, “how?”. How could parents, and the adults that run gyms everywhere, allow these horrific acts to happen to children? How, when made known to them, could these same adults ignore the cries for help? How could coaches and parents continue to knowingly take their children back to the very people that have abused their children?

It is impossible for us to find the answers. We just know that pride and money became more important than children. Protecting the reputations of coaches and institutions became more important than the lives of the athletes. Big trophies and gold medals became more important than the integrity of this amazing sport.

This dark side of gymnastics sickens us. It is not just unacceptable, it must be driven out of the sport like a disease. We commit, with every resource available to us, to make this sport better… to make this corner of Colorado safe. This means focusing 100% of our time, energy and money on the athlete… your child. While performance and achievement are important, safety, security and the health of every athlete is, and will always be our paramount mission. We not only have a zero-tolerance for abuse and harassment, we actively identify and eliminate it from Momentum. We commit to you that we will do everything in our power to ensure that Momentum is a place that will focus on every child and provide a safe and supportive environment that will allow her to grow to become the very best version of herself.
